I discovered Emily’s one late evening after helping my client move from Ipswich to Lowood. It was the only place still open, so I decided to give it a try—and I’m so glad I did. The moment I stepped inside, it felt like stumbling upon a hidden country gem in the heart of town. I ordered the Works Burger, and it lives up to its name. Packed with everything you could want and served in truly generous portions, it’s old-school country comfort at its finest—something you simply can’t get at a chain restaurant. Every bite felt honest and hearty, reminding me why home-style cooking never goes out of fashion. The chips deserve their own applause. Perfectly cooked, golden and crispy, they’re even better when smothered in Emily’s rich gravy and a sprinkle of cheese. One mouthful, and you’ll understand why you can’t get enough of them—it’s classic comfort food done right. Emily also offers pork riblets that taste like pure nostalgia. I wanted a riblet roll which wasn't on the menu so I asked if she'd be able to make me one with gravy. She whipped it up for me on the spot—and it was nothing short of perfect. I hadn’t had one in fifteen years, yet her version transported me straight back to 2010. Beyond the standout dishes, Emily’s is a masterclass in convenience and value. You can walk in or place an order by phone, and her prices are remarkably reasonable for the quality and quantity you receive. She even stocks essentials—milk, lollies, pet food, snacks and other random bits—so you can grab a last minute treat or essential item on the spot. Plus, she stays open late, which is a lifesaver when you need a last-minute pick-me-up. Most of all, Emily herself is as delightful as her menu. Warm, friendly and genuinely welcoming, she and her lovely staff make every visit feel personal. Five stars—or ten out of ten—aren’t enough to capture how special Emily’s is. If you find yourself in Lowood, don’t walk—run. You won’t regret it.

Cannot recommend this place enough. Located in the heart of Lowood, this hidden gem is well worth the detour for some of the best takeaway food in the area. Big generous portions we got a Chicken Burger, Works Burger, medium chips, cheese and gravy as well as 2 pineapple fritters and two decently hungry guys couldnt finish it all. Prices are more than reasonable with the option to make your burgers a combo. While the food is worth the 5 stars alone its Emilys humour, customer service and carefree nature that will have me come back. Even in the busiest of times she makes you feel like your home and she is cooking a meal for you. The perfect pit stop on your way out to Twin Bridges or Wivenhoe. Its fast food made with care and love what more could you possibly want?
